British Chevening Scholarships The Malaysia Programme
This competitive scholarship scheme is funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of the British Government to provide an opportunity to outstanding young Malaysians, from a variety of fields, to further their studies in Britain at a university of their own choice. The Malaysia Programme is part of the global programme of British Chevening Scholarships. Chevening is the country house in Kent which is the official residence of the Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs.
Malaysia continues to be one of the main recipients of Chevening Scholarships globally. During the 23+ years of the Scheme's operation, some 1,091 Malaysians have been given awards to study in the UK, with a total value of around RM50 million.
Chevening scholars are among the brightest and best young Malaysians. Many are making their mark in their chosen fields.
The Chevening Scholarships are fully-funded awards (with the exception of business school programmes, where the fees element of the scholarship is capped at £12,000), covering the university tuition fee, a monthly living allowance and a return air-fare to Britain.
A number of Chevening Scholarships are Partnership Awards and the High Commission is pleased to acknowledge the support of the 2009/10 Chevening Programme by HESS, GSK, Petrofac, Rolls Royce, HSBC; the Universities of Abertay
Dundee, Birmingham, Cardiff, Central Lancashire, East London, Edinburgh, Lancaster, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield, Thames Valley, Warwick, West of England and Westminster; Imperial College London, Institute of Education London, King's College London, The London School of Economics and Political Science and Queen's University Belfast.
